“Esto era la soledad” pertenece a la serie de siete fotografías Insomnio de Pilar Irala en animAMusicae (nacida del quinteto para piano y cuarteto de cuerda del mismo nombre) La serie narra una noche de insomnio durante la que la protagonista escribe una carta de despedida a un amor ausente. Además ésta es una de las series que más ciudades ha visitado, tanto en España, como en Italia y Francia, y una copia de esta fotografía forma parte de la colección del Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Madrid. “This was solitude” is part of the seven photography series Insomnia, born from the homonymous composition for piano and string quartet. The series narrates an insomnia night during which the protagonist writes a farewell letter to her absent lover. This photography is the exact moment in which she realizes his absence and decides not to wait anymore to that person who promised to be there and whose only presence is a void in the bed...in other words, it only remains the solitude. This series is one of the most exhibited works of animAMusicae (Spain, France, Italy…) and a copy of this photography is part of the collection of the Madrid Contemporary Art Museum.
